A second act for a jack-o’-lantern

In West Jordan, a leftover Halloween pumpkin could earn one more afternoon of work as a bowling ball. Glover Nursery put pumpkin bowling and skeeball on the lineup for its 12th annual Pumpkin Smash on Saturday, November 7. The price of admission was a contribution to Utah Food Bank.

By Saturday afternoon, the nursery’s fundraising page showed $6,401 toward its $10,000 goal. That number tracks the online campaign. Families could also bring canned or packaged food to the nursery.

The in-person event was scheduled to wrap up at 2 p.m. The nursery’s online campaign still had a donation option when we checked afterward. Its 2026 event listing advertised a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $5,000 in total. The campaign page is the place to see the latest tally.
